The USAAF Curtiss P40 Warhawk bore one of World War Two's most distinctive markings, namely the "shark's teeth" markings applied around the lower engine cowling. This was first used by 112 Squadron Royal Air Force in North Africa and later in December 1941 by the America Volunteer Group (A.V.G) in China, more famously known as "The Flying Tigers"
Despite the fact that over 15,000 P40 Warhawk variants were built between the 1930's and the 1940's and that they served with the Air Forces of 28 nations they never quite achieved the latter day status given to other fighters of the day such as the Spitfire or P51 Mustang.
In operation the P40 was seen by some to be underpowered, and they were easily out manoeuvred by the Japanese Zero. Despite this the P-40 possessed several good qualities that included pilot armor, self-sealing fuel tanks, sturdy construction, heavy armament (two 50-cal. and four 30-cal. machine guns) and a higher diving speed than most of the Japanese aircraft it encountered.
History now shows us that in the hands of a competent pilot the P40 Warhawk was as good as most of it's contemporaries of that time.

E-flites model is based on a P40 Warhawk of "The Flying Tigers" operating in China during 1941 and comes completely painted and detailed in the markings of that famous unit. The art has proven to be one of the icons of WWII with its "shark's teeth" painted on the lower nose cowling, Chinese wing markings and flying tiger on the fuselage. The latter flying tiger logo carried on the fuselage was designed by none other than Walt Disney; creator of "Mickey Mouse"
The almost ready to fly 3 channel model is constructed from highly durable foam and features accurately etched panel lines, pre-installed servo linkages and pre-installed control horns on the flight control surfaces. The fuselage has a clear plastic protection plate on the bottom of the nose area to reduce the risk of damage to the bottom of the nose during landings whilst the quick release wing allows easy access to the electronics and the removable canopy allows for quick and easy access to the flight battery between flights.
Powered by the pre-installed 300 brushless motor the model is more than capable of performing all of the typical warbird manoeuvres and with its compact size it is able to be flown by experienced pilots in smaller flying fields, however any pilot with a bit of low wing flying under their belt can enjoy the P40 just about anywhere!
This highly prefabricated P40 can be ready to fly in a little as 1 to 2 hours requiring just the installation of aileron and elevator servos, receiver and a speed controller, all of the hard work normally associated with warbird models whatever their size has been done for you.
